I use an integrated approach that utilizes the mind/ body/energy system. Let's work together towards healing, not just learning to cope with symptoms.

Highly Sensitive People (HSPs)

Heightened sensitivity is an innate trait, and it is estimated that Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) make up approximately 15-20% of the population. The brains of HSPs work differently than the rest of the population, in that HSPs are extra sensitive to their environment and those around them. This heightened sensitivity can easily lead to a feeling of overwhelm, which can manifest in feeling constantly exhausted and overly stimulated. HSPs often experience anxiety, depression, and a sense of feeling "different" and misunderstood. Understanding the special needs of HSPs and learning skills to harness the power of  sensitivity can shift sensitivity from feeling like a burden to feeling like a STRENGTH. Relationship Issues and Military Families

Relationships take work. Keeping your relationship healthy and satisfying takes commitment and effort from both partners. Dr. Olson approaches relationship therapy with a mission to help couples and families cultivate understanding, respect for each other and themselves, healthy communication skills, and resiliency in the face of hardship. Military families make the ultimate sacrifice; they often endure frequent relocations and long separations due to deployments. They worry about the safety of their loved ones and endure periods of loneliness while they are separated from their partner, family, and the support of the home. These circumstances can take a toll on the entire family system, impact feelings of trust and connectedness, and create extreme hardships in relationships. Dr. Olson and can offer support and work with couples and families through the use of therapy to develop resiliency to meet the challenging demands that military service creates.

Teenagers

Being a teenager is HARD. Adolescence is a crucial developmental phase that can be complicated by identity issues, physical changes, trauma, family discord, use of technology and social media, substance use/abuse, and confusion about values and lifestyle choices. Dr. Olson is passionate about working with teenagers (ages 16 and older) to cope with the difficulties of life, develop strategies for self-care and making healthy choices. This way, they can decide "what's next" when high school ends and the rest of life begins.

Infertility

The experience of struggling to conceive or carry your own child can be devastating, frightening, infuriating, confusing, and lonely. Well meaning partners and family members often say the 'wrong' thing when trying to offer support, making you feel hopeless and alone. Dr. Olson has extensive experience in working with individuals and families struggling with infertility and can offer support, understanding and guidance while you navigate this difficult journey.

Trauma

Trauma can take on many forms, and manifest differently for each person. Dr. Olson takes a compassionate and informed approach to help clients address trauma in its many forms. Dr. Olson uses evidence-based energy psychology protocols to help clients release emotional distress and energetic patterns related to traumatic experiences, in addition to other types of psychotherapy interventions. Dr. Olson believes in healing, above 'learning to cope'.

Anxiety and Depression

Symptoms of both anxiety and depression can be debilitating in their own way. These symptoms can rob you of living a satisfying life and consume your energy making it difficult to function and be fully present in your life. Dr. Olson has experience working with clients with both anxiety in its many forms and the full range of depressive symptoms using psychotherapy, mindfulness based interventions, and energy psychology techniques.
